Introducing your puppy to grooming is a very important stage in its development. Dogs groomed from an early age are more likely to settle into regular grooming schedules, finding the experience less stressful and more open to the grooming experience in adult life.

We offer the Mud Magnets Puppy Groom for puppies up to 7 months of age who have had their complete set of vaccinations. This service includes a bath, dry, pads tidied, coat tidied and ears cleaned.

The service is delivered at a rate your puppy finds acceptable, not on expectations of what is normal. During the puppy groom, your puppy will experience being handled by someone they do not know, possibly for the first time. Its about your pet learning the different sounds in the grooming environment and learning not to be scared. You should expect to be patient and allow your pet to get used to being bathed, dried and eventually be happy with the full grooming experience, understanding that it may be disappointing when your little bundle of fluff won't tolerate a full groom initially and doesn't resemble it's breed..!! Time and patience will pay off with the majority of pups learning grooming etiquette within 12-18 months if introduced in the correct manner with kindness and patience.

A further part of the puppy groom service is to increase the owners knowledge and awareness, by means of short demonstration, of how to peoperly brush a dogs coat (yes, there is a right way and I'll be happy to share with some of my trade secrets with you..!!) as well as the correct grooming tools you will need to properly groom your dogs coat. I have had many customers struggling with matted coats and disappointed that the dogs coat had been clipped short many times. The benefits of a brushing demo, frequency of brushing and a change of grooming tools cannot be over emphasised.

So feel free to call and discuss your little bundle of fun's first day at school,,!! The price is half that for the equivalent adult dog size - see the Prices page for full details

Nervous dogs are very welcome at Mud Magnets. If your pet is nervous/fearful or nervous/aggressive and has had difficulty with being groomed in the past, Mud Magnets could help. This service is designed specifically for those dogs that need that extra time and attention and who would benefit from a customised programme to re-introduce them to the grooming environment.

Please call to discuss your specific requirements. As each case is different, this service can only be booked by phone.
We will carry out a full appraisal of your pet's coat condition prior to grooming and discuss your specific requirements. This will ensure that the service we provide matches your dogs needs as well as your lifestyle requirements.

Regular grooming is an important part of maintaining your pets health, hygiene and general well being. As well as the obvious health benefits of removing dirt, debris, dander and matted fur, grooming also removes other items frequently transported on a  dogs coat. These can include pollen, mold spores and allergens which cannot be removed by brushing alone.

Brush drying completes the coat cleansing by helping to loosen knots in the fur and removing loose hair from the coat. It massages and tones the muscles in the skin, increasing blood flow and improving overall skin health.

Generally most grooming intervals are around 7 to 10 weeks. We also recommend that certain breeds that are prone to matting such as Bichon Frise, Lhasa Apso and Shitzu are booked in for a bath inbetween regular grooms to prevent unnecessary matting and to keep the coat in prestige condition

This service is the canine equivalent of a 'dry cut' at the barbers as the coat is not washed prior to trimming. It is ideal for a dog that is not quite ready for a full groom but requires wayward fur to be removed, typically around the face, paws and hygiene areas. It requires your dog to be matt free so if your dog shows any sign of matting, we would recommend a full groom instead.
